I won't lie, I dress up because it makes me more confident. I would never leave my dorm without putting on make up and a cute outfit (well, unless I'm taking out trash).
This week more so because it was the week of SCAD Style. Savannah College of Art and Design invited wonderful guests to speak at the new SCAD museum. And I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I was able to attend the lectures by Linda Heasley the CEO of the Limited brand, Hal Rubenstein the fashion director of Instyle magazine, David Noh journalist and costume historian, and Wes Gordon an up and coming women's wear designer.
They were all amazing! Inspirational, encouraging yet realistic. I learned so much this week I'm going to need another week to process everything I've heard.
I was really impressed by Hal. He said that women are smarter, more
capable than men but they are unable to become a president, a CEO of a
company because they are too critical of themselves. We wake up in the morning, stand in front of the mirror and pick out 5 things(maybe even more) we don't like about ourselves - hair, eyes, nose, legs, outfit, and the list goes on. But a man stands in front of the mirror, and he sees someone who looks like Brad Pitt. So we've already lost the battle before leaving our homes.
Interesting, isn't it? Something to keep in mind when you wake up and see yourself in the mirror.
